The Parets del Vallès Animal Shelter was born from citizen initiative in 2015 with a main objective: to shelter and protect abandoned animals in our care center to give them a second chance through adoptions. Our philosophy is protectionist and civic, fighting for the life of the animal. We prioritize improving the quality of life of animals: food, hygiene, health, housing and relationship with humans. This last aspect is one of the most remarkable when training volunteers, as what these animals need most is contact with humans to feel loved again and reduce the stress they suffer in shelters, thus having more chances of being adopted.

Our work is also informative, educational and civic, because among our objectives we want to make society aware of responsible pet ownership. Another objective is that all animals that pass through the shelter are registered (censused), identified with a microchip, vaccinated and sterilized as required by current legislation. We consider this a very important aspect both for improving the animal's own conditions and to prevent uncontrolled reproduction, thus increasing the number of dogs and cats on the street who cannot be cared for by families. Within the legislation, the shelter will first try to find the owner of the animal that has been found or collected, thus avoiding an abandonment that causes a significant cost to the shelter.

We want there to be involvement in this project, and that it works through volunteering, which will lend a hand in caring for these animals.
